Digital Arena presents Adobe Creative Suite 6 & Adobe DPS
Over the next week we are running a series of Adobe Creative Suite 6 preview presentations to demonstrate and discuss what’s new in CS6 and Adobe DPS.
Marcus Radich will be presenting a feature tour covering Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign as well as some of the services available with the Creative Cloud. We are running these presentations in a series of small groups to invite discussion and spark imaginations for what we can create with Adobe’s latest Creative Suite and Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. Marcus will also be covering Adobe DPS workflow and how InDesign can be used for Digital Publishing.
If you’ve attended one of our presentations we would love to hear what you found valuable and what has caught your attention. Please add a comment to this blog post below.

What’s new in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign CS6
Adobe evangelists provide an overview of what’s new in Illustrator CS6, Photoshop CS6 and InDesign CS6.
Adobe Photoshop CS6
Adobe have released a public beta of Photoshop CS6 as an advance preview of the product that will be available (along with the full Creative Suite 6) later this year. Adobe have given Photoshop the biggest overhaul in recent history.
This release features a major User Interface redesign that resembles an Apple Pro application, the time saving feature of background save and further expansion and utilization of Adobe’s Content Aware technology to the patch and move tools.
Photoshop CS6 will require a 64bit Macintosh running Snow Leopard or Lion. While Windows XP and Windows 7 will be supported, Windows Vista will be unsupported. Adobe is also working with Apple and Microsoft to ensure compatibility with their yet to be released next generation operating systems, OS X Mountain Lion and Windows 8.

Adobe Photoshop – Protect Detail with the Sharpen Tool
The Sharpen Tool has been in Photoshop for some time and is a great tool for enhancing fine detail. Since Photoshop CS5 the Sharpen Tool has had the ‘Protect Detail’ option to minimize pixelation and artifacts.
Mac OSX Lion compatibility with Adobe Creative Suite
Adobe has done a lot of testing with Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OSX Lion. For the most part Creative Suite 5 and 5.5 are compatible with Apple’s new Operating System. The Adobe Reader plug-in for Safari is not compatible with the version of Safari that comes with Mac OSX Lion, also there are some issues with Flash Catalyst but overall no real show stoppers.
Adobe has found some issues with Creative Suite 3 and 4 and these are being documented at the moment. In our own internal testing we haven’t found anything that would stop you using these versions of Creative Suite with Mac OSX Lion.
Creative Suite 2 and earlier requires the use of Rosetta as it was made for PowerPC Macs. Rosetta is not a part of Mac OSX Lion so these versions of Creative Suite will not work. Any plugins that require the use of Rosetta will also not work.
There is a comprehensive FAQ on Adobe’s website here.
Photoshop iPad Apps
In addition to Creative Suite 5.5, Adobe have announce three new iPad Apps that interact with Photoshop CS5. An update will be released for existing Photoshop CS5 users, it will also be supported as standard with Photoshop CS5.5.
The iPad Apps and the Photoshop update will be available early May.
Adobe Nav allows you to select and control Photoshop tools using the iPad as the input surface, customize the toolbar, browse and zoom in on up to 200 open Photoshop files or easily create new files.
Adobe Eazel lets digital artists create rich realistic paintings with their fingertips. These paintings can then be sent directly to Photoshop CS5 for compositing or for taking the artwork further.
Adobe Color Lava allows you to mix colors on the iPad, creating custom color swatches and themes to transfer back into Photoshop.
