Documents created with InDesign CS 6 and down-saving for earlier versions
Here’s a popular tip for those about to move to InDesign CS6.
InDesign Documents (.indd) created in InDesign CS6 can’t be opened with earlier versions of InDesign, there is however an easy solution. With InDesign CS6 simply select “Save As…” then from the Format pull-down menu select “InDesign CS4 or later (IDML)”, click “Save” and your new IDML file can be opened with InDesign CS4 or later.
In the past if you needed to exchange files with people using an earlier version if InDesign you had to select “Export” from the “File” menu to export your InDesign Document to an InDesign Markup file (.idml).
If you are still on an earlier version of InDesign and try to open an InDesign CS6 Document you will get the following error:
‘Cannot open “filename.indd”. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.’.
iOS 5.1.1 Software Update now available
Apple has released iOS 5.1.1 Software update for compatible iPhone and iPads. This update fixes numerous annoying bugs related to HDR photos, AirPlay playback, Safari syncing and App Store purchases.
You can install the update ‘over the air’ now by tapping on Settings, then General, then Software Update and tapping Download and Install. The update takes about 10 minutes to download and install, make sure your device has plenty of battery charge left before running the update.
Digital Arena presents Adobe Creative Suite 6 & Adobe DPS
Over the next week we are running a series of Adobe Creative Suite 6 preview presentations to demonstrate and discuss what’s new in CS6 and Adobe DPS.
Marcus Radich will be presenting a feature tour covering Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign as well as some of the services available with the Creative Cloud. We are running these presentations in a series of small groups to invite discussion and spark imaginations for what we can create with Adobe’s latest Creative Suite and Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. Marcus will also be covering Adobe DPS workflow and how InDesign can be used for Digital Publishing.
If you’ve attended one of our presentations we would love to hear what you found valuable and what has caught your attention. Please add a comment to this blog post below.
